Celeste Gallery Presents The Ghost in the Space: An Online Collective Exhibition Exploring the Residues, Traces, and Presences That Linger in Space

Featuring 13 International Artists Across Painting, Installation, Sculpture, Textile, Video, and Mixed Media Practice

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Celeste Gallery is proud to announce the launch of The Ghost in the Space, an online collective exhibition bringing together thirteen international artists to investigate what remains in a space after we leave it — the residues, traces, and presences that linger across both physical and digital environments. The exhibition opens on 12th Aug 2026 and runs through 12th Sep 2026, freely accessible to global audiences through an immersive 3D virtual gallery.

What Remains After We Leave

At the heart of The Ghost in the Space lies a question that is no longer confined to the supernatural — it is structural: what haunts a space after we leave it? As data outlives the platforms that hosted it, as algorithms reconstruct the voices of the dead, and as architecture continues to hold the shape of bodies long since departed, the line between absence and presence becomes harder to draw. This exhibition is not about fear. It is about presence — about what it means to occupy a space that something else has already claimed.

A Curatorial Journey in Four Chapters

Curated by Celeste Gallery’s curatorial team, the exhibition is structured as a four-part journey — beginning with architecture as a vessel for memory, moving into the residual data and algorithmic afterlives of the digital world, descending into the body and mind as sites of haunting, and finally opening outward toward the unseen forces of the wider universe. The result is a cohesive yet multifaceted exploration of what it means to remain — and to be remained by — the spaces we pass through.

The exhibition features works by Kuo Wu, Erin Wiley McLaughlin, Thomas Lisle, Angel Couldrey, A. Rosemary Watson, Joyce Aranuwa, Veronika Russakova, Xiye Lyu, Huilin Li, Shelley Lafferty, Gary Duehr, Sean Bw Parker, and Evangeline, spanning ink painting, installation, sculpture, textile-based work, photography, and mixed media. Together, their works construct a quiet dialogue between the body, the home, the machine, and the cosmos.

A New Model for Exhibition-Making

Presented entirely online through an immersive 3D virtual gallery built on Kunstmatrix, The Ghost in the Space reflects Celeste Gallery’s ongoing commitment to making contemporary art accessible to audiences worldwide — breaking the geographic boundaries of traditional exhibition spaces and treating the digital not merely as a display method, but as a space that can itself be haunted.

Curator Chen reflected on the exhibition: “We move through rooms, platforms, and bodies believing we leave them empty behind us. We rarely do. The Ghost in the Space asks viewers to sit with what they’ve left behind — and to consider what, in turn, has been left in them.”

The Ghost in the Space is on view from 12th August 2026  to 12th September 2026. Free to access at www.celestegallery.uk.
