Sainsbury’s shoppers run to buy new Starbucks flavour they ‘need’ to try

Beloved coffee shop chain Starbucks has introduced two new flavours to its chilled drinks line-up and they’ve already been spotted in supermarkets like Sainsbury’s – and fans can’t wait to try them

Sainsbury’s shoppers are itching to get their hands on Starbucks’ new ready-to-drink range, with two coveted flavours being made permanent additions to the coffee chain’s product line-up. Countless people all over the world are coffee lovers – in fact, it’s often regarded as something of a personality trait, with many fans proudly declaring their inability to function properly without their morning caffeine fix, and others viewing the beverage as an essential element of their day-to-day life.

Of course, part of the drink’s appeal is the vast array of ways it can be served, with the flat white, Americano, cappuccino and more among the most popular. In Starbucks, there’s no shortage of drinks to choose from – even for those who aren’t overly enamoured with coffee.

The chain, which was founded in 1971, launched the beloved frappuccino in 1995, which helped it achieve mainstream popularity. There’s coffee-based frappuccinos, as well as caffeine-free, cream-based versions including strawberries and cream, caramel cream, cookies and cream, pistachio creme, and many more.

Now, the coffee chain has introduced two new flavours to its ready-to-drink range – Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha Latte, which have already been spotted on the shelves of supermarkets like Sainsbury’s. The chilled beverages have a recommended retail price of £2, though this may vary retailer-to-retailer, depending on special offers and deals. The drinks are both permanent flavours in Starbucks’ chilled coffee line-up, as opposed to limited-edition.

Popular food-and-drink-focused social media account New Foods UK shared an image of the new drinks to Facebook with the caption: “New Starbucks Strawberry Flavour Matcha Latte from Sainsbury’s.”

In the comments section, hundreds of fans were keen to share their thoughts. One person said: “A matcha I could maybe get on board with.”

Another lamented: “I haven’t found these anywhere”, while a third tagged a friend and said: “ooo we need to try these.”

A fourth said: “Yum”, and another echoed previous comments by telling a friend: “We need to try this.”

Other Facebook users tagged their friends to direct their attention to New Foods UK’s post.

The hit social media account has built a devoted online following thanks to its consistent updates, pictures, and footage highlighting all the latest sweet treats, snacks, and more spotted in supermarkets and other retail stores up and down the country.

New Foods UK boasts hundreds of thousands followers across multiple social media platforms and often shares reviews and product updates, too.

When was Starbucks founded?

The famed chain originally got its start as a seller of whole-bean coffee, tea, and spices rather than a brewed coffee shop. It was founded in 1971 at Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington, USA. by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker.

Howard Schultz, who was chief executive officer from 1986 to 2000, converted it into the coffee shop set-up we know today, serving espresso-based drinks. Soon, it expanded into a mainstay across the world.

Schultz was behind the rapid expansion of the franchise across the West Coast of the United States. Starbucks is the world’s largest coffeehouse chain.
