A Wetherspoon worker has named the ‘freshest’ dish on the menu, explaining it’s always cooked to order

A Wetherspoon worker has named the “freshest” dish from the menu. When you visit a Wetherspoon, you know you’re in for budget-friendly pints and some solid British fare.

Some former staff on social media have previously suggested that some of the menu items are prepared ahead of time and not cooked fresh. However, Macey Newberry, who worked for the popular pub chain at the time of posting, took to TikTok to give her take on the best meal to have at Wetherspoon.

Posting under the handle @bigmacnew, she said the steak is a safe bet as it’s prepared fresh every time. Her personal pick is a medium rare gourmet steak coupled with a plate of chips, peas, vegetables and a peppercorn sauce to finish, reports the Express.

Macey said, “I probably shouldn’t be telling you this because it is a bit of insider information from working in Spoons. This, in my opinion, or to the textbook is the freshest meal Wetherspoons makes.”

Even though the steak will set you back £13 – a bit pricier than other offerings – it’s still a steal compared to some other establishments. Macey claimed that while the steak and chips are cooked to order, the other sides are instead microwaved.

Nonetheless, she said: “You just can’t go wrong with a steak meal, you know what you’re getting, you know you’re going to enjoy it – so get it.”

Viewers in the comments section were divided, with one saying: “Spoons steaks are really hit and miss. I’ve has some awful ones, some pretty decent ones as well. But for £10/15 you really can’t grumble.”

Another commented: “Next date night me and my bird will treat ourselves to a Spoons steak.”

However, not everyone was impressed, with one critic stating: “Mate medium??? That’s fully grey and looks like the bottom of my shoes.”
