Shoppers are being told to check their nearest store
B&M shoppers can freshen up their living space with a “practical piece” of furniture that looks far pricier than it really is – with similar styles online coming in at more than £100 extra. The bargain retailer is selling its Slatted Round Side Table for £15, and says it has a “timeless” design.
The cut-price table is being sold as one of B&M’s furniture Special Buys. The shop is telling customers that they can upgrade their living space with the “timeless” charm of the £15 table. The store says it is designed to add a “modern” look to any room is it in, as well as “serving as a practical piece” of furniture.
According to the listing, the MDF side table is flat-packed and requires some assembly at home. The table stands 48cm tall, and shoppers are being told to look for it in B&M stores rather than online.
For shoppers trying to match the table into an existing room, the easiest way is to take a quick tape-measure check before heading out, especially if it’s going beside a sofa or armchair. A 48cm-high side table usually sits best when the top is roughly level with the arm of your chair, making it more comfortable for a drink, lamp or book.
Shoppers are being told to check that their nearest store has a furniture section and to make sure they can get the box home themselves. B&M still doesn’t offer online furniture ordering for delivery or click-and-collect.
The low price may raise eyebrows for anyone used to seeing similar pieces from designer homeware brands. One lookalike is Blythe Living’s Soho Oak Slatted Open Shelf Side Table, priced at £115 (reduced from £139).
It features an extra shelf, more slats and is made from oak, oak veneers, and rubberwood. Even so, B&M’s version is still the budget-friendly option if you’re after the same general look for less.
Why is B&M so popular in the UK?
B&M is a popular store in the UK for its carefully curated, ever-changing selection of branded Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products, homeware, and seasonal items at significant discounts.
By purchasing large quantities of a limited range of top-selling items directly from manufacturers—and providing unique international imports—it effectively creates a contemporary high-street treasure hunt. You can find your closest branch using the B&M Store Finder.
Another well-known and popular discount store in the UK is Home Bargains, which is similar to B&M, as both are leading discount retail chains that use a similar business model.
They focus on offering well-known groceries, toiletries, toys, and home goods at prices much lower than those at regular supermarkets.
