They both look delicious – and it’s getting people in the festive mood
Marks & Spencer’s £10 “munch” tins have gone viral on TikTok – and this year Aldi has unveiled a lower-priced Christmas lookalike. The budget-friendly supermarket has brought back its Christmas Munch Mix tin for £5.99, nearly half the price of the M&S favourite, giving shoppers the chance to get into the festive spirit early.
Aldi said the tins landed in stores this week, with stock available from September 20. Aldi’s 350g tin features a mix of sweet-and-salty treats, including fruit-flavoured gummies, toffee popcorn, salted pretzels, milk chocolate beans and milk chocolate-coated balls.
New for this year, the retailer has also introduced festive chocolate snowballs (milk chocolate in crisp sugar shells) and a new festive sweet mix.
The launch follows the popularity of Marks & Spencer’s ‘Original Very Merry Munch‘ tin, priced at £10 for 460g, which contains milk and white chocolate popcorn, dark chocolate pretzels, milk chocolate peanut clusters and caramel almonds. M&S has also extended the line-up with a new flavour, “Gimme S’more Munch”.
Marks and Spencer’s description of the tin reads: “[It’s] a sweet-and-salty mix that’s made for sharing. Expect cookie fudge clusters, fluffy marshmallows, caramel buttons and white chocolate-coated popcorn with sugar-coated milk chocolate, salted pretzels and milk chocolate-coated biscuit pieces for a moreish medley of flavours and textures.”
Although they’re sold by different retailers, both tins seem to be targeting the same shopper – and offer a very similar sweet-and-salty mix.
But if your main priority is saving money, Aldi’s version is the better-value choice at £5.99, compared with £10 at M&S.
The new finds have been shared on Facebook, with one snack review group loving the product. One shopper wrote: “That tin looks better than other years.”
Another said: “That’s really nice”. A third loved the Marks and Spencer tin, writing: “Nice but not as nice as Marks and Spencer’s ones.”
Another page, Money Saver By Dansway, also shared the new tin. One person tagged their friend and, in excitement, said: “It’s back!!!”
