M&S shopper tries new Dubai chocolate sandwich and gives it 3-word review

The Dubai chocolate sandwich everyone is talking about is the brand-new, limited-edition Chocolate, Strawberry & Pistachio Creme Sandwich launched by M&S. The sandwich has been inspired by the viral TikTok “Dubai chocolate” trend

Most of us like getting a meal deal from a supermarket every now and again, however how would you feel about getting a chocolate sandwich with your crisps and drink? Well you can, thanks to Marks & Spencer.

The Dubai chocolate sandwich everyone is talking about is the brand-new, limited-edition Chocolate, Strawberry & Pistachio Creme Sandwich launched by M&S. The sandwich has been inspired by the viral TikTok “Dubai chocolate” trend, and is a dessert-style spin-off of their previously successful Japanese-style “fruit sando”. The sandwich, which was launched this month, features cocoa-enriched, sweetened brioche-style bread. This is filled with a layer of rich Fairtrade dark chocolate sauce and a smooth roasted pistachio nut crème mixed with mascarpone cheese.

Slices of fresh, sweet British Red Diamond strawberries can also be found tucked in the middle of it.

The product is priced at £3.50 for a single/half-sandwich pack (compared to £2.80 for the classic strawberries-and-cream version returning alongside it).

It is a limited-edition summer release. Due to high demand, it has been selling out quickly in many local Foodhalls.

But what does it taste likes, and is it worth buying?

Influencer Carmie Sellitto, known for his food reviews, took to Instagram to give his take on the sandwich recently and gave a three-word review.

Carmie, who boasts 704,000 followers, told his fans he was ‘excited to see if the sandwich was worth it’.

Things started off well as he exclaimed: “Look at the bread… the bread’s chocolate.”

However, things went a bit downhill from there, as he gave his first three-word impression: “It’s very dry.”

Carmie did admit he “didn’t get much of the sauce” though. However, even when he did, he said the chocolate is “a lot more overpowering than the pistachio.”

The foodie admitted he ‘probably wouldn’t buy the sandwich again though’, giving it a 5/10 rating.

The sandwich also had mixed reviews from his fans in the comments.

One shopper was keen, as they wrote: “Makes me want to go directly to M&S. Their Big Daddy pistachio chocolate is gorgeous.”

However, someone else exclaimed: “Ewww no, a sandwich is a sandwich – that’s a cake slice.”

Despite Carmie’s review, many other testers claim that the mix of dark chocolate sauce, mascarpone cheese, and British strawberries tastes “amazing” together.

Several reviewers were also pleasantly surprised that the sandwich isn’t overly sickly or sweet, finding the flavour ratios well-balanced.
