A stunning 3 bed barn house in Dumfries and Galloway less than a one minute walk from a beautiful golden sand beach has hit the market and it is truly breathtaking.

The Daily Record’s Property of the Week is the beautiful Owl Cote, situated just a stone’s throw away from the shores of Carrick Bay and 5 miles from Gatehouse of Fleet.

This coastal cottage with an enclosed garden was once a former byre used to house cattle before it was completely renovated in 2011. And despite it’s peaceful and isolated location, it is surrounded by everything you need in this quaint little town.

The listing states: “Owl Cote is situated just yards from the shores of Carrick Bay, around 5 miles from Gatehouse of Fleet. Carrick shore is a picturesque sandy beach with safe swimming and is suitable for sailing, windsurfing and canoeing.

“Gatehouse of Fleet is a popular small town and has a good range of local facilities including hotels, chemist, doctor’s surgery, coffee shops, postal service and two small supermarkets.”

It is also just a short drive from the famous ‘Artist’s Town’ of Kirkcudbright, which attracted a number of 19th-century artists, including E. A. Hornel, who formerly lived at Broughton House, now in the care of The National Trust.

Slightly further afield is Castle Douglas, dubbed Dumfries & Galloway’s Food Town, and home to a high number of independent shops and businesses, as well as a thriving livestock market.

Owl Cote is currently on the market for offers over £520,000 with the house currently being run as a popular holiday let and giving the buyer a rare chance to acquire a lifestyle envied by many.

Inside, it is clear this property has undergone a remarkable transformation with a bright beach theme of blue and white paint displayed across both floors.

On the first floor there is a beautiful 10 inch outdoor glass balcony at the front side of the house which offers beautiful views over Carrick Bay.

The balcony can be accessed through patio doors found in the upstairs sitting area where picturesque beach views can also be enjoyed from inside the property with a cosy wood burner in the corner for chillier days.

The barn layout is unique with a modern top floor kitchen, with a dining area in the middle and a spare smaller bedroom up the stairs.

Heading down the glass panelled staircase, the ground floor features a spacious master bedroom with a stylish en suite bathroom and a door to the outdoor terrace.

Along the hall, there is also a second generous sized bedroom with an en suite shower room. Another bathroom and entrance porch complete the inside of this remarkable property.

Little touches throughout the home cater for all types of Scottish weather with electric underfloor heating in the bathrooms and heated towel rails.

That’s not all as the outside this beach-front property still has even more to offer.

Aside from the stunning coastal views, the house has gates which open to a gravel sweep leading past Owl Cote and ending in a parking area adjacent to the building in the courtyard.

In front of this beautiful reconstructed barn home is a;lso an area enclosed by dry stone dyke which hosts an appealing terrace underneath the glass balcony.

The terrace can be accessed from the master bedroom. To the side, steps lead up to a lovely decking area that is suitable for social gatherings and relaxation, with more views towards the bay.

Onwards from this is a drying green while to the rear is an enclosed area with a pond, surrounded by mature trees and shrubs.

A detached shed in the garden also provides useful storage for further garden furniture and bikes.

More details and images of Owl Cote can be found on the Galbraith listing.
