Media accreditation is now open for the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 (RES 2026), a high-level international gathering taking place from 22–24 April 2026 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Organised in partnership with the United Nations, the summit will convene heads of state, senior policymakers, international organisations, business leaders, and environmental experts to address urgent ecological challenges in Central Asia and their broader global implications.

Journalists and media representatives wishing to cover the summit are invited to apply for accreditation through the official RES 2026 platform. Delegates, including policymakers, researchers, and private sector participants, can also register to attend the event via the official website.

RES 2026 is positioned as a regional platform with global relevance, focused on delivering practical, coordinated responses to interconnected challenges such as water security, climate adaptation, energy transition, and environmental resilience. Central Asia is among the regions most exposed to climate stress, with rising temperatures, glacier retreat, and increasing pressure on transboundary water systems. The summit aims to move beyond dialogue toward implementation-focused cooperation.

The event is expected to convene senior political leadership, including Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, alongside regional leaders such as Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, and Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan. Their participation underscores the growing recognition of environmental issues as a shared regional priority requiring coordinated political engagement at the highest level.

The summit will also feature senior representatives from the United Nations, including Li Junhua, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, and Feridun Sinirlioğlu, Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

In addition, the programme brings together a diverse group of experts, business leaders, and civil society representatives.

A central focus of RES 2026 will be water governance, a critical issue in a region where major river systems cross national borders and where infrastructure designed for more stable climatic conditions is increasingly under strain. Discussions will also address the role of green technologies, sustainable energy systems, and investment mechanisms in supporting long-term environmental resilience.

Alongside its political and policy discussions, the summit will feature a dedicated business and innovation platform, bringing together companies and investors focused on environmental solutions. This integrated approach aims to align public policy, international cooperation, and private capital in addressing shared ecological risks.

For international audiences, RES 2026 provides a strategic lens on how environmental challenges intersect with economic security, regional stability, and global supply chains. As pressures on food systems, energy networks, and water resources intensify, the outcomes of the summit are expected to contribute to wider global discussions on climate resilience and sustainable development.

Accredited media will have access to key sessions, press briefings, and interview opportunities with senior officials and experts.

With participation expected from over 1,500 delegates and a wide range of international stakeholders, the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 represents a significant opportunity to elevate Central Asia’s environmental agenda on the global stage.
