Maltesers fans are eager to get their hands on a new flavour of the beloved sweet treat after spotting it in the supermarket. The popular confectionery has been a staple in the Mars family since it was created back in 1936 by Forrest Mars Sr, going on to be sold to the masses one year later.

A sweet, small sphere; Maltesers are crafted from honeycomb that’s then coated in a thick, creamy layer of milk chocolate. The treat derives its distinctive malt flavour – and name – from its famed honeycomb centre. This flavour is something known and loved across the nation but now, there’s a new version making its presence known in supermarkets and stores up and down the country.

White Maltesers are back, much to the delight of fans. This version of the iconic confectionery proved popular when it hit the shelves over a decade ago – and caused sadness when it was discontinued.

Chocolate lovers are eager to snap them up now they’ve returned again.

Hit food account Sweet Reviews UK has built a loyal following on social media after regularly sharing news and updates on the latest sweet treat releases.

Recently, the account spotlighted the returning white chocolate Maltesers after picking up a pack from Morrisons.

Sharing a simple image of the white chocolate packet of Maltesers on Instagram, Sweet Reviews UK penned: “We finally got our hands on the new White Chocolate Maltesers – and even though it was only the small snack-size bags, they did not disappoint!

“Deliciously sweet with that classic malty crunch, they’ve got an almost caramelised flavour that makes them seriously moreish.”

There was one complaint, though. Sweet Reviews added: “We’re gutted we haven’t found the big bags yet… but let’s be honest, our waistlines are probably grateful as we could easily demolish a lot of these!”

They rated the white Maltesers nine out of 10 and shared they’d spotted them at Morrisons. In the comments section, people shared their thoughts.

One person said: “I can’t wait to try these, they look so good”.

Another, who appeared to have never tried white Maltesers before, said: “Omg I need them right NOW. I can’t believe we’re only just getting white Maltesers in 2025!! I feel like these should’ve always been a thing!! What a time to be alive!!”

A third shared: “Apparently Morrisons are going to be stocking a more to share version soon. As in a big bag but for £3”.

Sweet Reviews UK replied: “Yes, the bigger bags are in a lot of Morrisons stores now, just our one that doesn’t seem to have the big bags! They’re in a lot of stores now”.

When news of white Maltesers’ return was shared on TikTok, people were equally eager to snap them up.

One person commented: “These were the best so gutted they were discontinued” while another declared: “Yes they are better than the regular Maltesers!! I’ve not recovered from them being discontinued”.

When Maltesers first arrived on the scene, they were first marketed as “energy balls” and sold in boxes before proving phenomenally popular among those with a sweet tooth.

According to the brand’s website, 187 million Maltesers are sold annually in the UK, which translates to around “six products every second”.
