As a beauty expert, a silk pillowcase has become one of the bedtime upgrades I don’t like to be without. Over the past few years I’ve tested more than 10 of them, so I’ve been able to track the benefits for my hair and skin in real time.
Still, after all my researching, I’ve yet to find a cheap silk pillowcase that’s both reliable and costs less than £30.
So, upon discovering that Amazon Haul (the web retailer’s low-cost shopping section) is home to a silk pillowcase that costs just £7.28 (Amazon.co.uk), I was understandably in disbelief. Bona fide silk usually commands a premium price, so a sub-£10 pillowcase sounded too good to be true – especially with usual go-to from Blissy costing a hefty £81.
Not one to rule out the possibility, I reminded myself that every so often, a budget product surprises you. Curious to see whether this could be one of those rare exceptions, I put it to the test. From reducing hair breakage to helping minimise sleep creases, I compared its feel, finish and performance to the premium silk pillowcases I’ve reviewed over the years. I’ve found out whether it really delivers the hair and skin benefits silk is renowned for – or if the rock-bottom price comes with too many compromises.
