Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert explains how to find and extend Tesco Clubcard vouchers with £17million worth run out in days

13:54, 27 May 2026Updated 16:42, 27 May 2026

Tesco shoppers can rack up savings both in their shopping and in vouchers by using their Clubcard. However the customer perk does not have an unending lifetime, running out after two years.

This means that for many people, the vouchers they earned in 2024 will run out in 2026, and missing the deadline leaves them worthless. According to the Money Saving Expert website, founded by Martin Lewis, there are £17million-worth of vouchers which are due to run out on Sunday, May 31 at 11.59pm – but there is a way to check if you have any expiring vouchers and a handy tip to extend their lifespan.

The website said: “If you’re unsure when yours expire and you’ve still got them in paper format, check the date on the voucher itself. If you’ve lost your paper vouchers, or are unsure if you had any in the first place, you can check on the Tesco Clubcard site or app:

  • To check online, go to the Tesco Clubcard website, select ‘Clubcard account’ and then ‘Vouchers’. You’ll need to be registered for a Tesco.com account and must know your Clubcard number, which is printed on Clubcards (including those downloaded to digital wallets) and Clubcard key fobs. You should then be able to see a table listing your available vouchers and their expiry dates.
  • To check on the Tesco app, open it up, go to ‘Clubcard’ and then to the ‘Vouchers’ section. (If you don’t have the app, you can download it for free through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.)

The money experts had several tips for shoppers. There were both ways to make the most of the vouchers and a handy option to extend them if you don’t want to use them just yet.

Increasing the value of the vouchers

According to MSE shoppers can spend their vouchers at Tesco, where, for example, a £5 voucher will give you £5 off your shopping. But to increase the value use them at Tesco’s Reward Partners instead. Currently, you can get:

  • Double value – you can get twice the face value of the voucher at numerous partners, ranging from days out, such as Alton Towers, to subscriptions like Disney+ or overnight stays with Hotels.com
  • Triple value – even better some restaurant chains give three times the face value. MSE says current options are ASK Italian, Bella Italia, Frankie & Benny’s, Las Iguanas, Pizza Express, Prezzo Italian, or Zizzi.

Extending their lifespan

MSE said it had tested a handy tip for those whose Clubcard vouchers are due to expire but don’t want to use them yet as you might be able to extend the expiry date by another two years.

It warned: “Technically, under the Clubcard T&Cs, Tesco can refuse a Reward Partner order if it decides you’re trying to game the system by redeeming vouchers just to extend their validity – but we tested the trick at MoneySavingExpert.com Towers this month and it worked just fine.”

It added: “If you want to give this a try, here’s how it works – though remember you’ll need to extend your vouchers by 11.59pm this Sunday (31 May).” It said:

  • Make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page (not in store or on other Tesco pages) or donate to one of its partner charities. The remaining balance will then be credited back to your Clubcard account. So if you spend 50p using a £5 Clubcard voucher, you should get £4.50 back.
  • You can then swap your points for vouchers manually or wait for them to be converted with your next statement. The expiry date for these new vouchers will be two years in the future.
  • There’s no minimum spend, but the aim is to spend as little as possible. A good option might be a 50p restaurant voucher (worth up to £1.50 at your chosen restaurant).

It adds: “You’ll need to do this for each individual voucher, so it’s worth weighing up if it’s actually worth it for smaller denominations. For example, if you’ve a £10 voucher it could be worth it. If you’ve got a handful of £1 vouchers, maybe less so.”
