People have said they plan on ditching a Christmas classic after spotting a ‘far better’ option that reminds them of “how it should be” over the festive season. Some have even said the latest creation by Marks and Spencer could be enough to tempt people away from classics like Celebrations, Heroes, Quality Street, and Roses.

Posting on the Snack Reviews Facebook page, group founder Daniel Chubb showed its 533,000 members a “closer look” at the 1.2kg chocolate tin from M&S call the Big Mix. Costing £12, M&S bosses wrote: “Go large this Christmas with our biggest ever Big Mix assortment.

“Packed with chocolate-covered toffees, caramels and creams, with classic flavours and textures to tempt all the family.” The tin holds a whopping 1.2kg of chocolates and has lots of choice for families to tuck into as they come together in the lead up to Christmas.

In Daniel’s post, he shows the underside of the metal tin, which has a full menu of what shoppers can expect to find mixed inside. The assortment of treats include:

  1. Salted Caramel
  2. Hazelnut in Caramel
  3. Biscuit in Caramel
  4. Milk Creme
  5. Orange Creme
  6. Strawberry Creme
  7. Cream Toffee
  8. Caramel Fudge
  9. Coffee Truffle
  10. Butterscotch Eclair

Like with the major Christmas chocolate tubs, shoppers aren’t guaranteed a specific amount of each chocolate as the contents are mixed. However, with 1.2kg of space, there’s sure to be plenty of choice inside.

People were quick to be impressed by the tin’s massive size. Some even said this is “how it should be,” commenting on the fact that popular brands like Celebrations, Heroes, Quality Street, and Roses have shrunk in size over the past several years.

One said: “Not M&S coming for the big chocolate companies this Christmas. At least they’re doing it right with the size!”

Another added: “Got some of thes last year, they were so much nicer than Quality Street.” A third pointed out: “Far better than quality street, and they’re in a foil wrapper as well!” With someone else mentioning: “Shiny wrappers too!”

Quality Street manufacturers announced in 2022 that they would be scrapping their iconic foil wrappers when packaging bite-sized chocolates. Instead, people would open their tins to find most of the packaging – apart from the Orange Crunch and Green Triangle – was made of recyclable paper.

More praise continued to pile up in the Snack Reviews post for M&S. Someone else claimed: “M&S have brought back proper Quality street!”

And one more said: “These look amazing for Christmas! Proper ‘old style’ Quality Streets. All the nice flavours and a few different ones too!”

Shoppers who don’t want a full tin – or just want to top up an existing tub – can pick up smaller 650g pouch of the chocolate too for £7. They would also make ideal gifts too instead of the classic Celebrations, Heroes, Quality Street or Roses.
