Reading Time: 15 mins read

There are just three days left of the transfer window and it’s sure to be busy as several clubs look to make big signings before 11pm on Tuesday.

Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

English striker Abdulmalik breaks fifth-tier transfer record

Jamie Vardy’s non-league transfer record is no more with Abdul Abdulmalik joining Swedish club Djurgarden from fifth-tier Boreham Wood.

Djurgarden have paid over £1.5million for the 23-year-old Englishman, surpassing the £1m fee Leicester City paid Fleetwood Town for Vardy in 2012.

The tricky attacker had a stellar 2025-26 season, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists as Boreham Wood reached the National League play-off final.

Abdulmalik said: ‘I am very happy, proud, and excited to come here to Djurgarden, and I look forward to playing in front of the supporters at this great stadium.

‘I appreciate the conviction Djurgarden have shown, and it is wonderful that everything is now finalised.’

Watkins departs Villa with ‘a heavy heart’

Ollie Watkins has completed a £51m move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.

The 30-year-old English striker posted a farewell message to Aston Villa on Instagram, where he said:  ‘Firstly, I’d like to say never did I intend, nor did I imagine my time at Aston Villa would end this way.

‘With that being said I’m eternally grateful for the last six years. Not only has it shaped me as a player, but as a person. We’ve been through so many ups and downs during my six seasons here.

‘But one thing that has never changed is that I’ve given everything for this club. From my first goals in the 7-2 win against Liverpool, getting the club back into Europe, the Champions League nights at Villa Park to that unforgettable night in Istanbul.’

After thanking his three managers at Villa Park – Dean Smith, Steven Gerrard and Unai Emery – Watkins added: ‘It’s time for a new chapter that I’m excited about. However, I close this chapter with a heavy heart. Villa will always mean so much to me. Thank you guys, from the bottom of my heart.’
