Iceland shoppers are singing the praises of a ready meal costing just £1, with many struggling to believe its value for money.
The UK retailer, renowned for its extensive range of frozen foods alongside fresh items and exclusive brands, has built up a loyal following among bargain hunters over the years. Iceland stocks numerous frozen products at the £1 price point, but one microwavable meal in particular is garnering outstanding feedback online. Iceland Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice is sold in 400g packs.
The dish, which features cooked chicken breast strips and vegetables in a sweet and sour sauce served with cooked long grain rice, boasts an impressive average rating of 4.5 out of a possible five stars on the Iceland website. One delighted customer left a glowing review, saying: “This is my favourite microwave meal from Iceland.
“I love it, it tastes better than more expensive ones. I can’t believe it’s £1!” Another shopper said: “The best sweet and sour sauce that I ever tasted.
“I challenged myself to cook this kind of source since I first tasted it and I swear nothing can beat that taste! Absolutely delicious with all the red bell pepper and pineapple pieces inside. Love it! I buy regularly every month and serve in my breaks at work or enjoy with my kids at home. 100% recommend.”
A third customer added: “Perfect for a quick dinner! Delicious, well-portioned, and quick to prepare. The sauce is tangy and flavourful, and the chicken is tender every time.”
The 400g meal packs in 543 calories, along with 21.6g of protein, 8.8g of fibre, and 3.1g of fat. It can be prepared in the microwave or oven, straight from frozen.
