Jaw-dropping Scottish coastal mansion overlooking beach hits the market

It is rare to find a property that has both stunning interiors and a beautiful setting, but the Daily Record’s newest Property of the Week offers exactly that. The B-listed country house is nestled along one of Scotland’s most picturesque coastlines and overlooks a secluded beach.

Ronachan House is a breathtaking 13-bedroom property on the famous Kintyre Peninsula, which is a gorgeous stretch of coastline hanging off the west of Scotland. The incredible mansion is being sold through estate agents Strutt & Parker, and could be yours for £2.1 million.

When you enter Ronachan House, you will be led from a stylish tiled vestibule into a grand reception hall with original timber flooring and panelled walls. At one end is an atmospheric library with an open fire, while a huge formal dining room is situated on the other side.

Elsewhere, there is a magnificent arched opening that leads to another sitting area and a marble-floored family kitchen that is framed around a large central island. Completing the ground-floor accommodation are two of the double bedrooms, two cloakrooms, and a family bathroom with a roll-top bath.

The first floor includes a billiard and games room, a drawing room with panoramic views across Ronachan Bay, a king-sized en-suite bedroom, and an additional cosy sitting room. Elsewhere, the master bedroom suite is comprised of a luxurious bedroom, a sitting area overlooking the bay, and a bathroom with a roll-top tub.

Moving up another flight of stairs, the second floor is home to five more en-suite bedrooms that are all finished with high-quality joinery and detailing. Finally, an additional bathroom to the front of the house enjoys extraordinary elevated views over the shoreline below.

Completing the accommodation are three independent dwellings named The Coach House, The Look Out, and North Lodge that provide flexible accommodation. The Coach House is a self-contained three-bedroom apartment and The Look Out is a one-bedroom apartment, while North Lodge is a two-bedroom cottage.

The magnificent and idyllic grounds at Ronachan House extend to more than 10 acres in total, and slope gently down to the private and sheltered shoreline at Ronachan Bay. To the back of the house, a mature forest offers privacy and a huge selection of wonderful walks.

Strutt & Parker states: “Set above the white sands of Ronachan Bay, with sweeping views across open water to the Inner Hebrides, Ronachan House represents one of the most remarkable private coastal holdings on Scotland’s west coast. Occupying a secluded position on the Kintyre Peninsula, an area celebrated for its unspoilt coastline and relative seclusion, the house commands an exceptional setting of beach, woodland and open sea.

“This handsome Victorian mansion, constructed of warm sandstone and Category B listed, has been meticulously restored and sensitively modernised over the past two decades. The current owner has undertaken an extensive programme of structural repair, architectural reinstatement and comprehensive refurbishment, ensuring the house now combines historic integrity with the comfort and practicality expected of a modern family home.

“The result is a rare balance of architectural grandeur, restored craftsmanship and a warm, highly liveable interior suited equally to family life and large-scale entertaining.”

More images and information about Ronachan House can be found on the Strutt & Parker website. You can also find some of the Daily Record’s recent Properties of the Week here:
