Elden Ring movie cast is revealed (Image: FROMSOFTWARE)
Forget Avengers Doomsday, Dune: Part Three and the next Top Gun, the new movie I’m most excited about is the live action adaptation of Elden Ring. Written and directed by Alex Garland, the movie is based on the hugely popular game by Dark Souls developer FromSoftware. With fans facing an agonising wait for the 2028 release date, production studio A24 has announced the cast for the Elden Ring movie, and there are some pretty big names attached to the project.

The Elden Ring movie features the likes of Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw and Nick Offerman.
Cailee Spaeny’s credits include Alien Romulus, Civil War and Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, while Whishaw has appeared in the likes of Skyfall, Spectre, Paddington and The Danish Girl.
Nick Offerman, meanwhile, is best known for his roles in Parks and Recreation, Civil War and The Last of Us.
Other cast members include Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Rocketman, Warfare), Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones, Under Salt Marsh, Brazil), Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machuina, House of the Dragon), Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Black Bag, The Musketeers).
According to IGN, there are also roles for Havana Rose Liu (Tuner, Bottoms), Ruby Cruz (Bottoms, The Threesome), John Hodgkinson (Dear England, Napoleon), Jefferson Hall (House of the Dragon, Oppenheimer) and Emma Laird (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, A Haunting in Venice).
UK actor Peter Serafinowicz is also among the cast members, although it’s unclear who he or any of the other actors will play.
While Serafinowicz is perhaps best known for appearing in the likes of Shaun of the Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy and for voicing Darth Maul in Phantom Menace, he is also a big fan of FromSoftware games.
He even voiced the character of Mild Mannered Pate in Dark Souls 2, and has voiced characters in video games such as LEGO City Undercover, Deus Ex Mankind Divided and LittleBigPlanet 3.
Elden Ring movie director Alex Garland’s previous credits include Ex Machina, Annihilation and Civil War. Garland has also written the likes of 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Dredd.
Bandai Namco explains more: “To bring the epic world and intense action of ELDEN RING to film, the project will be led by filmmaker Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War, Warfare) as writer and director.
“The film will be produced by Peter Rice alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, and George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis.”
The original game was directed by FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, while A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin provided world building elements.
Elden Ring is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 port expected to launch later this year.
Titled Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, the Nintendo Switch 2 port features the base game as well as the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Fans can also expect a selection of bonus items, which include new weapons, items, armour and skins for your horse.
