The Trump administration is deliberately releasing only ‘minor’ UFO files while withholding far more significant evidence, according to one of the most prominent figures in the disclosure movement.
Dr Steven Greer, founder of The Disclosure Project and the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence, told the Daily Mail he believes officials possess far more consequential material but have been advised to reveal it slowly as part of what he described as an ‘acculturation process.’
‘My understanding is that they’ve been advised to go slow on it, and to only release fairly much inconsequential material,’ Greer said. ‘I don’t agree with that strategy.’
Greer, who has spent more than three decades encouraging military, intelligence and corporate insiders to come forward with information about unidentified aerial phenomena, argued the current releases are only the beginning of a much larger disclosure effort.
He believes the strategy is backfiring because the public expected far more than the three recent tranches of documents released by the administration.
‘I think they’re trying to do a slow roll,’ he said. ‘I think it’s eroding trust in government.’
Despite his criticism of the rollout, Greer believes genuine disclosure could fundamentally reshape humanity’s future by revealing technologies capable of solving some of the world’s biggest challenges.
‘I think it’s a message of great hope,’ he said. ‘If it’s handled properly, it would start a whole new chapter in human civilization.’

The Trump administration has released four tranches of UFO files since May 8, months after President Donald Trump ordered Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to declassify government records related to UFOs and alleged extraterrestrial activity.
The releases included striking images and transcripts linked to NASA’s Apollo 12 and Apollo 17 missions.
One photo taken from the lunar surface appears to show three unexplained dots hovering in the dark sky above the moon.
Another document summarized statements from seven federal officers assigned to different teams who independently reported witnessing multiple unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) across the western US over two days in 2023.
Never-before-seen FBI and CIA reports detailing witness accounts have also been included, but Greer argued the material released so far represents only a fraction of what exists inside classified government programs.
He said he has spent decades collecting testimony from military personnel, intelligence officials and government insiders, building an archive that he believes contains far more consequential evidence than anything released publicly by the administration.
‘The archive we have, it’s 36 years of accumulated evidence and whistleblower testimony and videos and photos and documents and government documents from all over the world, is vastly more consequential than what they released in these last four tranches,’ Greer said.
‘We’re trying to make sure that the public and also the political leaders have access to more material than they’re seeing through these Department of War and White House releases to date.”
Greer believes that most of the objects released in recent Pentagon files – including the Tic-Tac UFO – are man-made, based on reverse-engineered alien technology
Greer said he believes additional records will eventually be made public, but suspects the administration intends to spread the disclosures over several years.
”I think more will be coming,’ he said. ‘I think they’re trying to do a slow roll, stretching out towards the end of the Trump administration.”
One of Greer’s biggest criticisms centers on what he believes is a misunderstanding of the objects appearing in many recent government disclosures.
He argued that not every craft documented in classified files is extraterrestrial, claiming some are advanced aircraft developed in secret by the US defense industry using technologies hidden from the public for decades.
‘Since the late 1950s, we have mastered what’s called electro-gravitic systems, which pop culture would call anti-gravity,’ Greer said.
”In reality, the majority of the UFOs seen are coming from the Lockheed Skunk Works, and Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon, and a few other prime contractors.”
Greer stressed that he believes genuinely unexplained cases also exist, but said they have become intertwined with classified military projects.
‘There are ones that are nonhuman, no question,’ he said. ‘But there’s also this other whole phenomenon that’s actually man-made.’
He further claimed that some of those alleged man-made programs have been used in illegal operations beyond the oversight of elected officials.
‘The man-made objects have been used in clandestine and many criminal enterprises,’ Greer said. ‘I can confirm that senior law enforcement in the United States have open criminal investigations into this.’
Greer, a retired emergency physician, said he believes the disclosure movement has reached a pivotal moment, but argued powerful interests continue to resist broader transparency.
Those concerns have intensified following the creation of a new White House advisory group examining UFO-related issues.
Greer alleged that some of the individuals involved have ties to organizations he believes have spent decades keeping information hidden from both the public and elected officials.
He argued that the current document releases represent only a small first step in a much larger process that has been unfolding behind the scenes for decades
‘I think it’s a five-alarm fire,’ he said. ‘There are some very questionable characters who have been put on a White House advisory council for this.’
He also criticized the appointment of former Pentagon UFO investigator Lue Elizondo to a National Security Council role.
‘The worst thing I’ve seen in 36 years of trying to resolve this problem has happened in the last 30 days,’ Greer said, claiming several recent appointments have strengthened the influence of people connected to past secrecy efforts.
According to Greer, one of the biggest misconceptions surrounding UFO disclosure is the belief that presidents, cabinet officials and senior military leaders automatically have access to every classified program.
‘Part of these problems is that they’re all very, very new to the subject,’ he said.
‘I think the public makes the mistake of thinking, ‘Well, you’re the President or you’re the Secretary of War, and you have full knowledge of this.’
”That is not how this has been operating.”
Greer claimed that alleged UFO-related programs have operated for decades outside normal government oversight, leaving even senior officials unaware of their existence.
‘For the most part, oversight has not happened for quite some decades properly,’ he said. ‘The public expects these high officials to have full access to these files and information, when in reality they pretty much had to start at zero.’
Despite his criticism of the administration’s approach, Greer said he believes disclosure is accelerating because more insiders are becoming willing to come forward.
He said his organization recently launched a worldwide appeal encouraging people working inside covert aerospace programs to disclose evidence they believe has been hidden from Congress and the public.
‘We’re encouraging them to defect with this positive proof of operations that have been run illegally,’ Greer said.
Greer said he is also encouraged by conversations he has had with lawmakers serving on congressional oversight committees.
‘They feel like this is sort of a slow roll, and they hope… they tell me they expect more,’ he said.
While he acknowledged that many of his claims remain controversial, Greer maintained that disclosure is inevitable and argued that it has the potential to fundamentally change humanity’s understanding of its place in the universe.
‘If this is released properly, it’s going to be quite clear to the public that we, humans, have figured out very advanced energy and propulsion systems that would absolutely replace the need for oil or gas,’ he said.
