The next wave of PS Plus Extra and Premium games have been officially announced by Sony, although the dates and timings are all over the place. The PlayStation Plus Extra announcement took place on the usual date and at the traditional time, but the PS5 games won’t launch all at once like in past months.
Instead, the games will be spread out over the coming weeks, which does at least give fans time to try them one after the other, as opposed to being overwhelmed with one sudden drop. The headline release is epic action role-playing game Final Fantasy 16, which is the only game launching on the usual date.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games lineup in full
With stunning graphics and a somewhat more mature story than previous entries, Square Enix RPG Final Fantasy 16 is undoubtedly the star of the show.
The game comes to PS Plus Extra roughly three years after making its debut as a timed PS5 exclusive back in June 2023.
“The 16th standalone entry in the legendary Final Fantasy series marks a darker turn for the RPG franchise, with a complex tale of revenge, power struggles and unavoidable tragedy,” reads the official description.
“Play as Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria and guardian of his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Eikon Phoenix, in the first fully-fledged action-RPG in the mainline Final Fantasy series. Explore the diverse land of Valisthea and use the spectacular Eikonic powers at your disposal to overcome powerful enemies.”
Final Fantasy 16 will be joined by the likes of Sonic X Shadow Generations, which is a remastered version of Sonic Generations complete with brand new content that has been built from the ground up.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance will also join PS Plus Extra this month, alongside Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Farming Simulator 25, Blades of Fire and Black Desert.
Sony announced the PS Plus Premium line-up during the recent State of Play event, confirming that PS2 classic Gitaroo Man will join the service.
