There is no better time for watching a creepy show than October and Netflix has a “terrifying” new release. You can stream this show on now and it’s an eerie watch based on true events. Monster: The Ed Gein Story, tells the story of the infamous serial killer.

The terrifying take on the true crime story is the third instalment in the unsettling anthology series and this season centres around Ed Gein. Previous seasons told the story of Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers. The latest iteration of Monster features Charlie Hunnam in the lead role, alongside a supporting cast that includes Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams.

Ed Gein was often referred to as the “Butcher of Plainfield.” He was the son of an alcoholic father and a fanatically religious mother, Augusta.

He grew up in a dysfunctional household that fostered his obsession with death and his deceased mother, reports say.

Following the death of Augusta in 1945, Gein became increasingly isolated and began engaging in bizarre and horrific activities, including the exhumation of corpses from local cemeteries.

Gein’s infamy reached its peak after he was implicated in the 1957 murder of Bernice Worden, a local hardware store owner.

Upon searching his home, authorities uncovered a grisly collection of body parts including human skulls used as decoration and skins fashioned into clothing and masks.

Although he confessed to the murders of two women, Bernice Worden and tavern owner Mary Hogan, it is believed that he may be connected to other unsolved cases.

Deemed legally insane, Gein was institutionalized until his death in 1984, and his life has served as inspiration for numerous fictional horror characters in film and literature.

One person who watched the show on Rotten Tomatoes, said: “I was totally impressed with every aspect of this story.

“It sucked me in completely. The actor choices were right on point & the sets were incredibly portrayed!”

Another person penned: “Grotesque and bizarre. It’s a masterpiece, Ryan did one of his best works in this season.”

The show is out now and you can stream it on Netflix.
