Netflix viewers hail crime drama as ‘best miniseries of the moment’ | Films | Entertainment

This new bingeable drama has been receiving rave reviews from fans, and it is streaming on Netflix. The Waterfront is an American crime series created by Kevin Williamson. The series is inspired by true events, and The Waterfront delves into the world of the flawed Buckley family. As they struggle to maintain their North Carolina fishing empire, they get themselves into dangerous situations while trying to stay afloat.

Its synopsis reads: “For decades, they’ve owned a fishing business and a seafood restaurant, with a hefty side gig in drug running. Dad Harlan might have liked to leave the bad stuff behind, but he’s sucked back into that world after his son Cane makes a deal with the wrong sort of people.”

The Waterfront stars Mindhunter’s Holt McCallany alongside Melissa Benoist, Jake Weary as Cane Buckley, Rafael L. Silva as Shawn Wilson, Humberly González, Danielle Campbell, Maria Bello and Brady Hepner.

Rotten Tomatoes audience reviewers have awarded the series a 71% rating so far.

One Google reviewer described The Waterfront as “undoubtedly the best miniseries of the moment,” adding: It kept me connected and intrigued from start to finish; the drama, the intrigue, the mess in which this family is involved, the roles of each main character, the comedy, everything is amazing for a Netflix series and ‘small screen production’.

Another said: “I bingewatched this.”

“Absolutely loved this series down. It kept me glued the entire time,” a reviewer stated.

Another reviewer praised the performances from McCallany and Grace: “Superb casting, I particularly loved patriarch of the family Harlan Buckley played by Holt McCallany and the ‘villain’ Grady, whose narcissistic, sociopathic character is fascinating and brilliantly played by Topher Grace.”

However, one viewer described the show as feeling a little “rushed”.

A third viewer penned: “I’ve finished watching The Waterfront. It was definitely intense, chaotic, fast-paced and entertaining to watch! I’m already hoping for a season 2 now, there is so much more to tell.”

The Waterfront is available to stream on Netflix.
