Waitrose has recently called for a number of food products to be returned by customers, issuing safety notices on both their website and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) site, warning that these items are considered “unsafe to eat”.

The supermarket chain is recalling Essential Waitrose and Partners Seafood Sticks after discovering an incorrect best before date on the packaging. The FSA alerts that the misleading date could render the product unsafe when consumed past the correct best before date of October 5, 2024.

Product details are as follows:

Essential Waitrose and Partners Seafood Sticks

Pack size: 250g

Best before: October, 5

The FSA said: “The product listed above has been labelled with an incorrect best before date, which makes it unsafe to eat after the correct best before date of October 5, 2024.”

Customers in possession of the affected seafood sticks have been instructed by Waitrose to avoid consuming the product and instead “package up the item” and return it to their local Waitrose and Partners store for a full refund.

For those needing to get in touch with customer services, the contact number is 0800 188 884, with option 4 being the relevant choice.

In their statement, Waitrose expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused and reassured customers of its unwavering dedication to high product quality and food safety standards.

Furthermore, in another related recall alert, Waitrose and Partners is withdrawing its KELLY LOVES SUSHI GINGER (150ml) from shelves due to a possible risk of glass contamination.

Product details are in for a recall. KELLY LOVES SUSHI GINGER has been flagged, with its 150ml package under scrutiny.

The item’s best before date is set for February 9, 2026, and it carries the batch number UK12019. Waitrose is calling on customers who’ve bought this product to bring it back to their nearest Waitrose & Partners store for a refund.

The supermarket chain added a note of regret: “We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
