Free PlayStation Store credit is coming your way and here’s how to claim it | Gaming | Entertainment

Sony is giving out free PlayStation Store credit to apologise for a recent network issue.

The company is emailing free credit to PS4 and PS5 users who were unable to redeem PlayStation Store vouchers on Christmas Eve.

If you think you were affected by the issue (or even if you weren’t), then it’s worth checking your emails to see if Sony has sent over any free PlayStation Store credit.

According to an email sent to PlayStation Lifestyle, Sony is emailing account holders with $10 in PlayStation Store credit. It’s unclear if UK customers are being credited with a similar amount.

“We are aware that on 12/24/24 a systems error resulted in users being unable to redeem voucher codes on the PlayStation Store, and we have identified your account as one impacted by this error,” reads the Sony email.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and have provided you with a 10 USD wallet credit.

“Your voucher should now be redeemable as well if you have not yet redeemed it.”

If you were affected by the error and have been sent credit, then you can redeem the voucher by logging into your profile on the PlayStation Store, and selecting Redeem Code from the menu.

While the original email has been verified, we recommend exercising caution when opening emails that claim to offer free store credit and vouchers. Always check the sender address to see if it’s legit, and don’t hand over any bank details or personal information in case it’s a scam.

If you do have store credit, there are a couple of new games that are well worth checking out.

This includes new SEGA release Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which is out now.

As part of the game, players will square off against cutthroat criminals, modern-day pirates and other scoundrels, as an amnesia-stricken Goro Majima embarks on a quest for a legendary treasure.

Like any good pirate adventure games, you’ll also be able to assemble a crew for your ship the ‘Goromaru’, all the while battling enemy ships and scoring loot.

That’s on top of the usual assortment of Yakuza mini-games, including delivery side-quests, karaoke, and kart racing.

A Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii demo is available to try now.
