Urgent track repairs have sparked commuter chaos with services disrupted among major lines.

Sydney Trains announced on Monday morning that urgent track repairs were being undertaken at Central Station.

Several lines have been impacted including the T9 Northern Line, T1 North Shore Line, T2 Inner West and Leppington Line and T1 Western Line.

A number of trains have been cancelled while other services have been delayed.

Shuttle trains have been organised to take commuters between Wynyard and Hornsby, as well as between Berowra and North Sydney.

It is believed there will be gaps in services throughout the morning.

The delays in services are also affecting the T2 Inner West and South Line, the T3 Bankstown Line and the T8 Airport South Line.

Commuters have taken to social media platform X to vent their frustration.

‘Another day another delay. Sydney trains continues its track record of letting millions of people down,’ one wrote.

‘What happened to proactive repairs? Nope slow reactive repairs for Sydney trains!’

Another added: ‘S***y sydney trains always something on busy hours.’

Another angry commuter added: ‘Hey Sydney Trains, your service stinks! How much time or funds do you need to fix your act for good?’

‘Left early to get to work early except my train is just sitting still now,’ one wrote.

‘Sydney Trains are pretty much the only business which can be sub par at it’s very best and still be acceptable,’ another said.

Commuters are being urged to take other modes of transport - with delays and cancellations of Sydney trains expected to finish at midday (pictured stock of passengers waiting for a train in Syndey)

Sydney Trains urged commuters to allow for extra time to travel.

‘Please allow extra travel time due to urgent track repairs at Central,’ a warning read.

‘Services may be less frequent, trips may take longer than usual and stops may change at short notice.

‘Please check transport apps, information screens and listen to announcements.

It is understood the urgent repairs will be finished by midday Monday.

Commuters are being asked to consider using other forms of transport, including bus services.
