Jerome Powell will be watching Thursday’s consumer price index, which is expected to come in at 3.1, some way above his official 2% target. It will be out after he has appeared before lawmakers on Tuesday and Wednesday, with questioning expected over the timing of a potential interest rate cut from the world’s most influential central bank.
