Subway has launched an investigation after a customer claimed she found a tooth while eating one of their sandwiches.

Lauren Murray made the shocking discovery after ordering three different meals from the restaurant’s Woodstock Road branch in Belfast on Monday, May 27.

The 21-year-old ordered the sandwiches for herself, her boyfriend and his brother using the Deliveroo app but was horrified when she found a surprise ingredient in her chicken-bacon-salad sub.

While tucking into her meal, Lauren said she felt a ‘small, hard item’ in her mouth and immediately decided to spit it out, thinking it was a piece of onion.

But after a closer look she claimed the mysterious object was in fact a tooth and even shared a picture showing her pointing to a small white object sitting on top of the Subway packaging.

Lauren told the Belfast Telegraph: ‘I immediately threw up.

‘I couldn’t get over it. I knew right away it was a tooth or crown of some kind, and I was just really disgusted by it.

‘Even looking at it afterwards, I just kept feeling really ill after it all.’

Lauren said she contacted Deliveroo soon after the incident, with the company telling her they would inform the restaurant itself.

However, she claimed Subway had not reached out to her despite even attempting to contact the branch itself.

A spokesperson for Subway told the Belfast Telegraph they are looking into the alleged incident.

They added: ‘The health and safety of our guests is a top priority. The alleged incident is being investigated directly with the franchisee.’
