The gloves were off this week in Westminster as Dominic Cummings unleashed his blow-by-blow attack on the government’s handling of the pandemic – and hosts of The Telegraph’s Planet Normal podcast, Allison Pearson and Liam Halligan were watching. On this week’s show, Liam tells listeners why Mr Cummings’ performance did his own intellect a disservice, Allison tells us why she thinks Health Secretary Matt Hancock is the real pantomime villain and our podcast hosts agree that the former adviser may have delivered one punch too many.

Also on the podcast: retired paediatrician and campaigner Dr Ros Jones tells listeners why she’s concerned politicians are jumping the gun when it comes to children and vaccines, Allison and Liam lament the UK’s Eurovision Song Contest entry and one of our hosts treats listeners to a musical interlude of their own.

Listen to Planet Normal, a weekly Telegraph podcast featuring news and views from beyond the bubble, using the audio player above or subscribe for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or your preferred podcast app.

Join Allison Pearson and Liam Halligan to discuss Dominic Cummings’ explosive evidence and the latest Planet Normal episode in the comments section of this article at 11am on Thursday 27 May.
