Jurgen Klopp rejected Man United and Chelsea approaches after leaving Liverpool, his agent claims

Manchester United and Chelsea both approached Jurgen Klopp to become their manager after he left Liverpool, according to his agent.

The German departed the Reds in 2024 to take a break from management and start a role as head of soccer at the Red Bull group.

But it has been claimed that Klopp was subject to interest from two Premier League giants as well as saying he could have had the USA or England jobs if he had wanted.

‘Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the USA or England,’ said Klopp’s long-term representative Marc Kosicke in an interview with German website Transfermarkt.

‘Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.

‘Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These enquiries keep coming.’

Chelsea and Manchester United sources have disputed this claim.

‘He’s extremely happy with what he’s achieved,’ added Kosicke. ‘And it’s still wonderful to go down in history as one of the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired.’

Klopp has only returned to Anfield for one match since he stepped down – he stated he did not want to distract from Arne Slot – and this was after Liverpool had won the Premier League title at the end of last season.

He is set to manage a Liverpool Legends team in a charity match against his other former club Borussia Dortmund, with Sir Kenny Dalglish also in the dugout.
