Nintendo Switch 2 fans getting perfect Halloween game | Gaming | Entertainment

The perfect horror game is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 just in time for Halloween — but watch out, there’s a catch. A fan-favourite title is to be added to the Nintendo Classics catalogue ahead of spooky season, and gamers couldn’t be more excited.

Luigi’s Mansion will be available for Nintendo Switch Online subcribers from Thursday (October 30). Having released as a launch game for the GameCube nearly 25 years ago, it bore the brunt of mixed reviews with many critics taking issue with how short the game was. But its fun moment-to-moment gameplay of hoovering up ghosts and solving puzzles captured the hearts of many, and as such is making a long-awaited return on Nintendo’s newest console. It comes as Halloween-themed Super Mario icons are made available to players for the holiday season.

Two ‘sequels’ to the original have followed, on the 3DS and the Switch, with Luigi’s Mansion 3 widely regarded as one of the Switch’s best games, boasting an impressive score of 86 on Metacritic.

Gamers will be hoping this will be the case once more when the original arrives on the Switch 2 as speculation ensues that maybe, just maybe, a Luigi’s Mansion 4 is not too far away.

If you’re ecstatic with the announcemnt and just can’t wait to play it, there is one rule you must follow. Luigi’s Mansion is only available to Nintendo Switch Online members who also have the Expansion Pack.

This is an add-on to a standard Nintendo Switch Online membership that provides access to additional features, including a library of classic games from consoles of yesteryear like the N64, the SEGA Genesis, and of course the GameCube.

A Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership costs £34.99 for 12 months, compared to £17.99 for the regular yearly subscription.

Luigi’s Mansion joins F-Zero GX, Soul Calibur 2, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker that launched with the console back in June, as well as Chibi-Robo and Super Mario Strikers that arrived since, with Super Mario Sunshine, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Pokemon Colosseum still due to release.

Reacting to the announcement, one gamer posted on X: “Truly one of the greatest games ever”, while another added: “Perfect timing for Halloween too!”

A third continued: “The exact game I was hoping for October, well done Nintendo” as a user complained: “I would have preffered a genuine remaster so we could actually own the game.”
