When a mini heatwave hits, tackling demanding cleaning tasks in sweltering temperatures is likely the last thing on anyone’s mind – particularly jobs like sprucing up windows, guttering or rooftops.

However, the blazing sunshine has a knack for exposing every streak and smudge on grubby windows as the bright light catches each imperfection.

Reaching those tricky exterior spots on your home can prove costly when hiring professionals, which is why many homeowners have turned to investing in window cleaning systems such as Amazon’s top-selling IGADPole 17 foot (5 metre) washing kit, reports Wales Online.

The kit is currently available for £99.97, whilst other options to consider include the JML Starlyf 7m Telescopic Hydrocleaner Window Cleaning Kit at £99.99 from Argos, which one buyer described as ‘fantastic and well worth the cost’.

The the IGADPole 17 kit features a lightweight pole brush with water-fed hose and garden hose compatible connector – simply add soap to the dispenser, attach the brush to the pole’s end and start cleaning.

The set also comes with a cobweb and dust cleaning head that could prove handy for indoor tasks too.

According to the manufacturer, the IGADPole 17 foot washing kit works on window glass and frames, conservatories, soffits, vehicles, caravans, gutters, roof windows, and solar panels.

Various pole lengths are available – the 12foot kit costs £89.70, the 20 foot is £109.97, the 24 foot is £119.97 and the 30 foot is £149.97, all obtainable from Amazon and manufactured by IGAD.

For those looking to take their cleaning game to new heights with a bigger investment, the Maxblast 20ft Water Fed Cleaning Pole and 30L Water Trolley has been slashed by £27.00 in Robert Dyas’ sale, bringing it down to £247.99. The Amazon top-seller continues to win over customers with its ‘sturdy and strong’ build.

Looking to beat the heat as temperatures continue to rise?

Then look no further than Dunelm’s White Rechargeable USB Desk Fan that has an almost perfect five star rating for its small, yet mighty, design that means it works “even on the lowest setting.”

Easy to connect via a USB cable that can be connected to laptops and computers, this desk fan is perfect for those who find themselves working from home on these sweaty, humid summer days.

However, it doesn’t need to remain plugged-in, as the rechargeable element and compact six-inch design means it can be taken anywhere, even placed on a bedside table overnight on summer nights thanks to its “quiet” operation.

It’s finished with four speed settings to choose from and an adjustable angle that can help direct the cool breeze where it is needed, unlike other models that can sometimes be stuck in one place.

As for Dunelm’s own mini desk fan, it has received an impressive 4.8 rating from impressed shoppers who say that, despite its size, it is “surprisingly powerful” and “a literal life-saver” during this kind of weather.

One five-star review read: “Fantastic fan, surprisingly powerful, quiet, lasts for quite a long time when charged, very hard to find a decent small rechargeable fan but this is it, will be buying more!”

Beat the heat with Dunelm’s White Rechargeable USB Desk Fan that costs just £25.

Back to the IGADPole 17, one delighted customer awarded it five stars, writing: “Fantastic, sturdy and light. I thought on full extension it would be hard to control, but no, I was able to wash all my windows and all uPVC fascia even to the highest peak. I would highly recommend.”

Another satisfied customer praised the product’s versatility, stating: “I bought the 7m version after a lot of deliberation and searching around, in order to clean my solar panels. I’m really pleased with the purchase.”

Another chuffed reviewer shared their positive experience using the system for more than just windows, remarking: “Brilliant! Bought to clean our conservatory roof. Did the job easily and looks great.

“Soap dispenser worked well and easy to use pole. Saved as much as the window cleaner wanted to clean the roof in the one purchase. Definitely recommend.”

However, not all customers were as thrilled with the cleaning system, particularly regarding its setup. One customer expressed: “The instructions are not very clear. Feeding the hose through the pole can be a little tricky as it can get stuck and if you’re only 5’2″ like me, my arms don’t stretch to both ends to sort it out.”

Another buyer had mixed feelings, commenting: “Reaching high up is very hard for using on the guttering at the top. The pole is light but the higher you go the harder it is to use, maybe a more sturdier pole would make it a little easier, but it’s made to be light for a reason, would recommend but a little time consuming.”

Additional guidance from someone who has used the system that prospective buyers might find helpful includes: “My top tips are that up and down motions work best, side to side when fully extended is hard to control, use baby shampoo rather than dish soap for a less streaky finish and retract the pole when moving from window to window. Watch out for the hose when moving to avoid tripping hazard.”
