Shoppers can get the new gadget in stores, which is designed to tackle common winter problems at home

Aldi has launched a new collection of ‘winter warmer’ SpecialBuy items aimed at keeping shoppers cosy at home during the winter months. One of the new products is an electronic dehumidifier that helps to dry clothes more quickly, cut down on mould, and enhance air quality by soaking up moisture.

Dehumidifiers play a key role in improving air quality by eliminating excess moisture. This helps stop mould, mildew, and dust mites from developing, which can trigger allergies and make breathing harder.

Although there are many types of dehumidifiers on the market, Aldi has introduced one in its latest SpecialBuy middle aisle selection. The Midi Dehumidifier is priced at £89.99 and is currently available in stores.

The 200W home device has a two-litre tank and can take out up to twelve litres of water each day, which helps keep the moisture in your house under control during the cold months. It also has wheels, making it easy to move from one room to another.

Some other cool features are a ‘simple’ touch-screen, a ‘quiet’ mode, a child lock, overflow protection, and it automatically turns off when the tank is full. If you place it near your laundry, it can help dry your clothes faster, which is great for anyone wanting to save on energy costs instead of using a tumble dryer.

The dehumidifier will only be available while supplies last. Just like any SpecialBuy, once it’s sold out, it’s gone for good.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “For speedy drying and to manage moisture in the air during colder months, shoppers can choose the Midi Dehumidifier (£89.99). Designed to help manage moisture at home during the colder months, it can remove up to 12 litres of water a day and has a 2L tank, adjustable humidity settings, a 24-hour timer and a quiet operating mode for use around the house.

“The unit also comes with wheels for easy movement, a simple touch-screen display and a drainage hose for continuous use, making it a useful addition for keeping spaces comfortable and helping clothes dry more quickly.”

According to the UK consumer organisation, Which?, dehumidifiers draw excess moisture from the air, helping to combat condensation, prevent mould growth and reduce damp on walls. There are two main types to choose from: refrigerant or desiccant.

The group explains: “Refrigerant dehumidifiers work by creating a cold surface; when warm, damp air comes into contact with it, water condenses and drips into the water tank. They typically struggle in colder spaces, such as cellars.

“Desiccant: This type has a desiccant wheel that absorbs moisture from the air. An internal heater and fan drive moisture off the wheel so the process can be repeated. They are effective in both warm and cold spaces.”
