Millions of Brits jet off and enjoy trips around Europe every year, but there are some cities that are firm favourites for a break away.
From bargain hotel stays to even a ‘Disneyland for adults’ there are plenty of popular destinations to choose from.
A new survey of 1,676 participants has revealed the top spots Brits are choosing for a European city break.
At the very top of almost 40 different locations was Krakow, in Poland.
The popular city scored the highest after being rated on its accommodation, food and drink, attractions, ease of getting around, shopping, lack of crowds and value for money.
With an impressive rating of 92 per cent, Krakow received a whopping five stars for accommodation, food and drink and visitors reckon its easy to get around.
A night away there comes to £86 on average, and it was the only place to score five stars for value for money in Which?’s survey.
It is a Unesco World Heritage site and is a great place to visit all year round, with an impressive Christmas market in the winter and plenty to enjoy in the warmer months.

One tourist described Krakow as ‘beautiful’ and ‘mainly unspoilt’.
They added: ‘Superb food at a fair price. I’ve stayed many times and there are lots of good value hotels. Friendly and pretty safe.’
Krakow’s range of cultural attractions earned it a four star rating.
There are historical significant sites nearby including Auschwitz and the Wieliczka Salt Mine, as well as museums in the city to educate visitors on its past.
Venice came second and scored 90 per cent – scoring five stars for cultural sights and attractions as well as its accommodation.
The Italian city was praised for being ‘so romantic and historic’ by a survey participant.
They said: ‘It is just an incredible place to visit. There is nothing like it on earth, so romantic and historic.’
However, what let the destination down was its value for money, which scored two stars, and the crowds, which received one star.

On average, according to the research, a hotel stay costs £132 on average, which is a big jump from Krakow.

Accommodation can be found for around £104 a night, but the city scored an average three stars on value for money.
While over in Spain, Valencia received five stars for its food and drink as well as four stars for being easy to get around.
A hotel stay costs around £106 a night on average.
One participant said: ‘Valencia has it all. Medieval centre with associated architecture, narrow streets and old markets.’
Istanbul came fifth as a top destination for a European city break, and it was the locations first time scoring so high in Which?’s survey.

The Turkish capital scored 88 per cent and one person described it as the ‘most interesting place’ they’ve ever visited.
It was rated five stars for food and drink, cultural sights and four stars for accommodation.
Istanbul also impressed with its cost, with an average night there costing £68 on average.
Meanwhile, the lowest scoring cities were Cologne and Dublin with just 69 per cent.
Dublin was rated low for value for money and crowds, while Cologne proved to be average for cultural sights and tourist attractions.
