One more fan contributed: “@richardosman Is it too early to ask when the next #thursdaymurderclub is coming out. I only had doubts about Pierce Brosnan but thought the whole thing was exceptional.”
The drama is based on Richard Osman’s 2020 mystery novel of the same name.
Helmed by celebrated director Christopher Columbus and boasting a stellar ensemble cast featuring Dame Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Sir Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan, David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, and Richard E. Grant.
Additional cast members include Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman, Sarah Niles, and Ingrid Oliver.
Similar to the book, The Thursday Murder Club centres on a group of pensioner amateur detectives as they attempt to crack murder cases.
Each participant contributes different expertise to the group, with one being a former intelligence operative, another was a healthcare worker, one was a labour union representative, and another was a mental health professional.
Numerous fans are now speculating whether there will be a follow-up film based on Osman’s second book The Man Who Died Twice.
At present, a second instalment for The Thursday Murder Club remains unconfirmed by Netflix.
Osman’s fifth entry in his novel series has yet to reach bookshops but will launch in September.
Director Columbus previously revealed to PA: “It’s all based on how many people watch the film over the first weekend, and we will know in about 10 days if we’re making a sequel.”
He continued: “I don’t want to speak for everyone else, but I would come back in a second.”
