Iced coffee fans rave over ‘genius’ hack for making the drink better at home

A TikTok user has shared a ‘genius’ hack for making iced coffee at home that won’t make you miss the barista-style version.

There’s nothing quite like a refreshing iced coffee during the summer, but they can be costly. However, creating a delicious alternative at home can be challenging, particularly if you don’t have an espresso machine.

Fortunately, there are methods to easily make a tasty iced latte using instant grounds. In fact, there’s a technique that can help your coffee stay stronger for longer and taste significantly better.

It all boils down to the ice cubes and involves swapping regular ice for coffee ice cubes. These enhance iced coffee by preventing dilution, intensifying flavour, and producing a smoother taste.

They also provide an excellent way to utilise leftover coffee, reducing waste, reports the Express. TikTok user @yescoffeenodecaf shared how to make coffee ice cubes.

The first step is to brew the coffee. Once it’s ready, simply pour it into your chosen ice cube tray once the drink has cooled down.

The coffee ice cubes will need to freeze overnight. When you’re ready to prepare your drink, just place the cubes into a glass and pour your chosen milk on top.

Then, the TikToker suggests pouring over another shot of espresso to help the ice cubes melt slightly.

Now is also the time to add any preferred flavourings, whether that’s maple syrup, sugar, caramel, or vanilla.

Moreover, the coffee cubes don’t have to be used exclusively for iced coffee; they can also be added to a cocktail, mocktail or even a milkshake.

TikTok fans were quick to express their approval, with @usernantz347 branding it a “genius” concept, while @m. billy_786 praised it as “very aesthetic”.
