Airbnb is set to be testing out a new service to pick guests up from the airport after their flights.

Using private car transfers, the company will be scheduling airport pickups in select regions around the world.

This includes cities across Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific.

Airbnb is pushing the new service in a bid to improve the experience for guests.

Currently, many individual hosts offer airport pickup services, but this is a more wide-scale trial of the new offering.

An Airbnb spokesperson said: ‘We are regularly testing new product updates, categories and initiatives, in order to provide the best possible experience for our community.

‘As part of that, we’re piloting a scheduled private car transfer service in select cities.’

It comes after last week Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said: ‘We’re also starting to test new services like grocery delivery and airport pickup to make each trip better from the very beginning.

‘And to capture even more trips, we’re bringing boutique and independent hotels onto the platform so that no matter what kind of stay a guest wants, they can always find it on Airbnb.’

Details of the launch and selected cities have not yet been announced.

It comes after the company has announced a string of investments and updates in recent months.

Earlier this month, Airbnb released the Reserve Now, Pay Later feature globally.

The function is now available to guests globally for domestic and international trips, giving guests even more flexibility to reserve eligible stays with nothing due at booking.

Since launching in the US for domestic stays, Reserve Now, Pay Later has helped drive the acceleration of nights and seats booked.

And it was earlier this week revealed the Airbnb Community Fund will distribute $100m (£74m) to communities through 2030.

Donations support organisations working on economic empowerment, sustainable and rural tourism, environmental sustainability, and other issues.
