Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent personal messages to the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, expressing sincere support and solidarity with the peoples of those nations during the current period of regional instability.
In the messages, Tokayev strongly condemned all military actions aimed at undermining the sovereignty and security of states that are friendly and brotherly to Kazakhstan, underscoring Astana’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution. “Our country consistently advocates resolving all complex international issues and armed conflicts exclusively through diplomatic means,” the president said.
He reaffirmed that Kazakhstan stands ready to provide any possible assistance to the brotherly Arab nations and expressed hope for the continuation of regular working contacts with their senior leadership.
The statements come against the backdrop of heightened tensions and conflict in the Middle East. On February 28, Tokayev instructed Kazakhstan’s Security Council and law enforcement agencies to develop a comprehensive emergency response plan in light of escalating tensions surrounding Iran and the potential risk that regional instability could affect Kazakhstan.
Security agencies have been placed on a 24-hour operational footing, and a special government monitoring group under the Foreign Ministry has begun work to assess developments and coordinate preventive measures. Regional governors have also been tasked with taking appropriate precautionary actions.
