A midwife was recovering at home last night after surviving a car-ramming attack that killed a ‘Good Samaritan’.
Alison Norris, 58, a married mother of two, stopped to help an unconscious woman injured during a fracas following a wedding party in Burngreave, Sheffield, on Wednesday afternoon.
Christian Marriott, 46, who had also stopped to help while on a walk with wife Bryony, 43, and their two children aged eight and six, was killed after he was struck by the Seat. Seven were injured in the violence and two men, aged 23 and 55, have been arrested.
Among the injured was the wedding’s groom, who was stabbed in the bloodbath, and his father who received head injuries.
Ms Norris was elected as a city councillor last year in Woodhouse and local politicians spoke of her ‘kindness’ yesterday.

Labour MP Clive Betts, whose Sheffield South East constituency includes Woodhouse, said: ‘I think Alison is a wonderfully kind and considerate person and she behaved in a selfless way thinking of others.’
Ibrar Hussain, a former Labour councillor in Burngreave, said: ‘Alison put her life on the line to help others – she should be given a medal.’
Another Labour source said: ‘Alison’s amazing – she always is. She just saw somebody lying in the road and went to help.’
Ms Norris was yesterday back home and recovering but declined to comment to reporters.
It comes as further tributes were paid to Mr Marriott, an IT manager and committed Christian from Burngreave who worked with a number of voluntary groups.
His family said in a statement: ‘The circumstances of his death, although tragic and unfathomable to us, show the sort of man he was – to go to help rather than to turn away.’
The family described Mr Marriott as a ‘man of faith’ and ‘a wonderful husband, dad, brother, uncle – and friend to many’. They added: ‘He devoted much of his life to helping others.’
They described his efforts helping at Sheffield College, a foodbank and after-school club.

Mr Marriott’s brother-in-law Luke Tonge said ‘our hearts are broken’. In a tribute on Facebook, he added: ‘Please pray for my sister and their boys, and the family and friends who are grieving such an incalculable loss.’
Heather Keates, chief executive of Community Money Advice where Mr Marriott was IT manager, said he was ‘prepared to go the extra mile for people’.
One woman laying flowers at the scene, who said she knew Mr Marriott from church, said: ‘He really was pure gold in every way.’
South Yorkshire Police said the 32-year-old woman Mr Marriott was helping remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition. She is understood to be a member of 19-year-old bride Amani Jhangur’s family.

The groom’s shaken mother Shareen Khan spoke from her corner semi in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, where Wednesday afternoon’s melee had spilled into the street leading to the killing and injuries.
She said: ‘What happened was a terrible thing. We are all very shocked.’
A visibly shocked Mrs Khan, speaking to MailOnline, continued: ‘I am the groom’s mother. He was hurt and so was my husband.
‘We don’t know why. We are a good family. It started as a happy day but things got out of hand.’
The family – which includes the groom’s four siblings aged 22 to seven – are being supported by police officers as a murder investigation is underway.
Mrs Khan added: ‘What happened was very sad and we pay our condolences to the man who lost his life.’
She declined to discuss the bride or her family or the events leading up to the horror as a female police officer inside her house advised her not to talk about the devastating events.
